Spartan Ives Capital is establishing a QFLP (Qualified Foreign Limited Partnership) in Ningbo, China, to serve as an essential channel for foreign investors to invest in China’s financial market, in collaboration with local fund partners in China.
With the QFLP in China, Spartan Ives Capital intends to establish and launch most probably the first Shariah Compliant Fund in China to attract institutional funds and investments from family offices in the Middle East and other jurisdictions. The funds will be used to invest in Chinese corporations.
The Ningbo Municipal Finance Bureau has implemented various policies to encourage the setting up of QFLP, such as:
- QFLP funds are allowed to invest as funds of funds in other China domestic PE and VC funds.
- QFLP funds are allowed to acquire ordinary shares of listed companies through non-public offerings.
- QFLP funds invest in non-listed companies.
- No more mandatory custody requirements for QFLP funds.
- No capital commitment for QFLP funds.
